Poppies at Sunset

The Poppy Saga

Two years ago a pair of poppies bloomed red-orange in a sea of bluegrass (green, just the variety of grass).

The two were terribly out if place in the lawn. Their predecessors had been a complimentary planting in a former “cottage” garden.

I kept the pods last year. In autumn the seeds went to a safer spot the former home of strawberries far removed from rotary mowers.

At this writing eleven poppies perk in a bed reserved for them.

In the turf two of their tribe bloomed and so it goes. They are stubborn in their claim.
