We have all been taught, a broadside

pirate for broadside poem 2

we have all been taught, a broadside

“We have all been taught a lot

By those in charge of old rot

We were willing and full of trust

Like children can be at the first

And none were yet a robot.”

Pirate!

“We’ll replace that clean slate

With this Bubble we’ve made

Swiftly, don’t dawdle, climb in

If you could see you the way that we do

Your ignorance is like sin.”

Quiet!

“Now, we’ll fill you up

With our sort of stuff

The good the true and right gracious

Eyes forward much less loquacious

This is not a bluff.”

Quiet!

“Leave your questions at home

Is our rule number one

Keep your mouth nice and shut

Sit still you need self-control

And to do what you’re told.”

Quiet!

“Drawing begins upper corner left

And proceeds in linear fashion

Like a printer my dears

The result will be clear

Twenty-one drawings no deviation.”

Quiet!

Why not start in the middle?

Or even the lower right a little?

Maybe some spot like ole Fibonacci?

Try it for size, The Golden Mean,

I mean it’s so pleasing to the eye

And so much less rigid.

Hhrumpf!

“You’re flawed, a bit broken, it’s plain,

We’re here to fix that. Now sit where you sat

Leave your questions at home

Is our rule number one

We have lessons and more rules to explain.”

Quiet!

Questions I plainly observe, teacher ma’rm

I submit, never gave one bit of harm

Not a lame fabrication

Disguised as education

It’s how to know the truth, I do affirm.

Hhrumpf!
